Below are some of our most frequently asked questions. If you don't see the answer to your questions, feel free to get in touch below by submitting your question into the form at the bottom of this page.

Q. When should I apply for a Tax Refund?

Answer: You can apply at any time of the year but just keep in mind that we can only check the past 5 financial years, so if you wait until after 31st of March you will lose the earliest years refund.

Q. What are the costs involved with my Tax Refund?

Answer: Check out our fee schedule here.

Q. What details do you need from me for the Tax Refund Application?

Answer: We need information such as your full name, address and date of birth. Also your IRD number, some form of photo I.D and your bank account number for your refund to go into.

Q. Why does the Tax Refund Application need my Photo I.D?

Answer: The first time you apply for an EZ Tax Refund we need photo ID. This is a legal requirement by IRD to verify your account details and helps to protect you against fraud.

Q. What type Photo I.D can I use?

Answer: You have the option of providing either a valid New Zealand driver's licence or your Passport. You can enter your licence or passport details during your online application and we will verify this information electronically.

Q. What happens if I owe and I'm not eligible for a Tax Refund?

Answer: If you don’t qualify for a tax refund and it turns out that you owe IRD tax, we will withdraw your submission immediately. Remember, no refund = no fee.

Q. How do I know what's happening with my application?

Answer: We will keep you informed with any updates to your refund application via email. You are welcome to get in touch any time, should you have any questions about your application.
